The American west has always been a big, bold, brave, diverse, wide-open, energetic country.

I think my art reflects that; big, bold, colorful with a loose style that brings a sense of play and surprise to my work. Beginning with a fairly clear idea of the finished piece, I never really know how it will be achieved. I consider my best work to be the pieces where I can genuinely surprise myself; when I can stand back, laugh and say, "Where did that come from?"
